ST. ANTHONY, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) - The step-father of two missing Idaho children found buried in his backyard faces additional charges on Wednesday.

The mother of two missing Rexburg children, Lori Vallow-Daybell, was arraigned on new charges on Tuesday. Her husband Chad Daybell is set to face additional charges related to hiding or destroying the bodies of “JJ” Vallow and Tylee Ryan that were found on his property in early June.

Daybell’s hearing is slated for Wednesday at 1 p.m. The charges are filed in an amended criminal complaint. The hearing will be streamed on Judge Faren Eddins YouTube Channel.

East Idaho News reported the charges followed hours after police searched Daybell’s property on Monday.

Vallow-Daybell faces charges of two counts of conspiracy to commit destruction and alteration or concealment of evidence.

Seventh Judicial District Judge Faren Eddins in Fremont County read the charges to Vallow during the court appearance, which was done remotely through Zoom.

On the first charge of felony conspiracy to commit destruction, alteration or concealment of evidence, the criminal complaint outlines a number of alleged misleading phone communications on Nov. 26, 2019 and between January 30 and June 9, where Vallow failed to produce JJ Vallow to the Rexburg Police Department.

On the second charge, the criminal complaint alleges between Sept. 9, 2019 and June 9, Vallow and Chad Daybell conspired to hide the remains of Tylee Ryan. The documents cit Daybell sent text messages to another to disguise activities associated with Ryan’s remains; alleges on Nov. 26, Vallow gave false information about Ryans attendance at BYU-Idaho and her housing situation; and between Jan. 30 and June 9, Vallow failed to bring Ryan to the Rexburg Police Department or Idaho Department of Health and Welfare as per a court order.

The mother of two missing Rexburg children, who were found in early June buried on her husband’s property, faces new charges.

During Tuesday’s arraignment, the court set Vallow-Daybell’s two-day preliminary hearing for Aug. 10 at 9 a.m. Daybell’s preliminary hearing is slated for Aug. 3.

Vallow-Daybell has been at the Madison County Jail since March on $1 million bond on two counts of felony desertion and nonsupport of children, along with three misdemeanors.
