UPDATE: Kimberly man dies following officer-involved shooting

KIMBERLY, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — UPDATE 5/18: The suspect has passed away as a result of his injuries. Notifications are being made and the name won’t be released until detectives conclude their investigation.

UPDATE 5/16: There is an update on information regarding a standoff that resulted in one man being shot in Kimberly Monday evening just before 5 p.m.

Twin Falls County Sheriff’s Deputies and Twin Falls Police Officers responded to a home in the 300-block of Fafnir Drive in Kimberly to serve a civil protection order on a 45 year old male.

According to the news release issued by the Idaho State Police, the man was uncooperative and armed himself with a knife and then later a shot gun.

After multiple attempts to get the man to voluntary comply, he did not, and just after 6 p.m. multiple shots were fired and the 45 year old was critically injured.

He was airlifted to St. Luke’s Magic Valley and remains in critical condition.

The Ada County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, along with the Critical Incident Task Force, will assist the Idaho State Police in their investigation into this incident.

The Critical Incident Task Force, with Idaho State Police as the lead agency is investigating a situation in Kimberly late Monday afternoon.

Twin Falls County Sheriff’s deputies and Twin Falls Police officers responded to a home in the 300-block of Fafnir Drive around 4:45.

Details are vague at this time, but we’ve been told there is no ongoing threat to the public.

The Ada County Prosecuting Attorney will assist the Critical Incident Task Force in reviewing the case.
